Dr. Amy Pham

Dr. Pham has been practicing dentistry for 10 years and is proud to serve the Oroville community since 2007.  Her mission is to provide the highest quality dental care using state-of-the-art equipment.  Her greatest professional enjoyment is creating natural, healthy and beautiful smiles that boost patient self-confidence and image; and maintaining dental health throughout the patient’s lifetime. She graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego.

Courtney

Courtney has been a part of the ProDental team since September 2011. She studied to be a Registered Dental Assistant in Sacramento. She has two children, ages 5 and 1. When not working, she enjoys spending time with family; watching her son’s sporting events; and just about anything outdoors. She loves working with kids and teaching them the proper way to clean their teeth and take care of themselves. She aspires to complete the education to become a Dental Hygienist; but until then she loves what she does now.

Kathryn

Kathryn is a graduate of the Butte Co. ROP Registered Dental Assistant Program and she loves what she does. “Being a dental assistant is what I wanted to become growing up, and I did it!” she says. She loves to ride horses and is a big family person. “My family is my world!” she continues. She has worked at ProDental since mid 2012 and says, “…the environment is wonderful!”

Rose

Rose has worked for Dr. Pham since 2008 and is expecting to become a Registered Dental Assistant by the end of 2012. When not working, she spends time with her two daughters and husband; camping; going to the lake and playing piano. She is also a huge 49ers fan and a Conservative Republican.

Lynn

Lynn is a graduate of Chico State and in 1987 she earned her Dental Hygiene Degree from Foothill College in Los Altos. “It’s been three years since I became the Registered Dental Hygienist here at Dr. Pham’s office. I couldn’t be happier. It is a pleasure to work in this terrific office and provide my services to members of the Oroville Community. In my life outside the office I am a wife and mom – busy with three kids, 2 pets and an acre of yard work. All of it is a lot of fun!”

The Facts about Dental Implants

Dental implants require a time commitment and dedicated oral hygiene routine for optimal maintenance. In addition, implants require a greater financial investment than that of a removable bridge or conventional denture. However, many people discover the end results a healthy smile, comfort, greater chewing ability and the confidence that comes with it make dental implants well worth the investment!
Dental implants may be the answer if you're looking for an attractive, comfortable, and permanent replacement for missing teeth.
Most of us take for granted the work our natural teeth perform over the years. We seldom stop to appreciate how easily we bite into a dense, chewy bagel or enjoy a succulent ear of corn on the cob. We may talk, smile and laugh with confidence and our teeth may function pain-free for decades. That all changes when we're faced with tooth loss or experience the diminished ability of our teeth to perform natural functions. more.

The Facts about Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease, or simply gum disease, is the single most common cause of tooth loss in adults. This inflammatory disease attacks the gums, bone and other supporting structures of the teeth.
Gum disease is caused by plaque, a color- less film of bacteria that forms on the teeth. Plaque mixes with sugars and starches in the diet to form acids and other by-products in the mouth, irritating the gums and causing them to become red, tender and swollen. It also causes the gums to bleed easily. If not removed daily, plaque hardens to form calculus (tartar) around the necks of the teeth.
The tissue that attaches the gums to the teeth can be destroyed by the irritants in plaque. The gums pull away from the teeth and small pockets form between the teeth and gums. These pockets become filled with more plaque. As the pockets deepen, it becomes impossible for you to clean the plaque out. Eventually, the bone structure supporting the teeth can be destroyed. more.

The Facts about Dental Sealants

A dental sealant is an acrylic-like material that helps shield out decay-causing bacteria from the chewing surfaces of back teeth. We base our diagnosis and recommendation for dental sealants on the patient's susceptibility to tooth decay and how the teeth were shaped when they originally formed below the gum. Though there is no specific age at which sealants are indicated, often we will recommend that the best time to apply them is when the six-year molars (the first permanent back teeth) appear.

How Long Do Sealants Last?
Depending on your chewing pattern, the sealant effect can last many years. Even though sealant material is durable, at subsequent dental appointments we make sure the sealant material is intact. Occasionally, we might need to replace or add a new layer of sealant material to keep the protective barrier strong and effective. more.

The Facts about Gum Disease and Your Health

How do healthy gums become diseased?
The gums of a normal healthy tooth reach up snugly onto the enamel of the tooth, protecting the roots and bone structure. Periodontal disease damages the gums and reduces their ability to protect vulnerable areas. It is the single most common cause of tooth loss in adults.
Gum disease is caused by plaque, a colorless film of bacteria that forms on the teeth. Plaque mixes with sugars and starches in the diet to form acids in the mouth, irritating the gums and causing them to become red, tender and swollen. It causes gums to bleed easily. Without daily removal, plaque hardens to form calculus (tartar) around the teeth.
This process causes the gums to pull away from the teeth creating pockets that become filled with plaque. These pockets may become deeper over time, destroying the bone structure that supports the teeth, thus resulting in tooth loss. more.

Overall: Expertise - Facility - Professionalism

Hey all! Overall, I would rate ProDental 5/5. I went in there with my sister a few weeks ago expecting quality service and that's what I got! The professionalism was something that deserves to be applauded for. I would easily recommend any family/friends to this place. Everyone there seemed to be extremely knowledgeable (as I would hope haha). It was a about as good as an experience as any dentist visit can be.

Can't say that I have any negative comments about ProDental. I've been to a lot of different dentists before and this experience was miles ahead of my average experience. They're professionals at what they do. I would come back any day. I highly recommend ProDental to anyone reading this. Thanks.

After reading the other reviews, I decided I would try Dr. Pham because my tooth pain wasn't going away. I have to say Dr. Pham is worth every penny! To begin with, her office returned my call within 10 mins on a Friday morning and met me within the hour. She was was able to identify the problem right away. She is a very kind person and I will refer to her if I ever have another situation.

Everyone is so helpful and understanding at ProDental! I get the sense that they genuinely care about you as a patient. They answered and questions I threw at them and I felt like I learned a lot of new things about my teeth (and how to maintain them). I've had some bad experiences before when it came to anything like this, but I am convinced that this is one of my best experiences to date!

I have to extend my sincere compliments to the entire staff at ProDental! They are AWESOME!!! It is not a surprise that many of us dread going to see a dentist, but I actually say, that I look forward to my routine 6 month visits for cleaning. It is very hard to come by an office which is run so efficiently, takes the utmost regard for patient comfort and cleanliness, while at the same time providing such excellent services for their patients. I would highly recommend the dentist and her staff to anyone seeking a reliable, and honest dentist.
